Ex-Serviceman Contributory Health Scheme which is also called ECHS was launched on 1st April 2003 in order to provide allopathic and AYUSH medicare to Ex-servicemen pensioner and their protégé through a network of ECHS Polyclinics, Service medical facilities, Government hospitals, impaneled private hospitals/specified Govt. ECHS Eligibility Criteria
All ex-servicemen receive a pension from the Controller of Defense Accounts under this scheme. In which the disabled / family pensioners and their dependent Sadasya are included. Which are considered letters for ECHS. The detail of ECHS membership is provided as under.

ECHS Smart Card Limit
ECHS SMART CARD will ensure the easy and timely availability of medicines for ECHS beneficiaries.
- Type A & B from Rs 2.5 lakh to 5 Lakh
- Type C from Rs 1.5 lakh to 3 Lakh
- Type D from Rs 1 lakh to 2 Lakh).

- Passport size photo
- Pan card
- Aadhaar card
- Blood group
- Signature or thumb impression
- Bank account statement
- Discharge book
- Pension Payment Order Number (PPO)
- A copy of the old smart card.

- Thereafter, Click “OK” in the pop-up.
- For ECHS login, click on the “Already Registered. Click to Login” option.
- Now Select “Country” and enter the details of “Registered Mobile Number, Password, Verification Code”.
